The 27-year-old career criminal, who was already wanted for violating the terms of his pre-trial release on previous charges, was arrested on Saturday in the 46800 block of Morningside Lane in Lexington Park following a stabbing that required a 36-year-old man to be airlifted to a Maryland hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Investigators from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said that deputies found the man suffering from stab wounds, and Duckett was identified as a suspect who was already wanted for violating a pre-trial release agreement. He was arrested at the scene without incident.
Last week, an alert was issued by the sheriff's office as they sought the public's assistance in tracking down Duckett, who was wanted after going rogue and failing to appear in court on Monday, Oct. 16, to answer charges that include unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, obstruction, failure to obey a lawful order, theft, and other offenses.
He had been released from the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, but is back in custody following the stabbing on Saturday.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, on Oct. 12, Duckett was busted in a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop and brief police pursuit, and he was placed on house arrest by a judge on Oct. 16 and fitted with a GPS monitoring device, which he almost immediately cut off before failing to show up in court.
Duckett has racked up quite a lengthy rap sheet during his 27 years on Earth, including arson, drug, weapons, robbery, vehicle, and other offenses.
As a teenager, Duckett was arrested for burglary at an area business, and last year he was busted for the illegal possession of a handgun and ammo, which he was prohibited from having due to a previous conviction.
Duckett is now being held at the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where he is charged with:
- Second-degree escape;
- First-degree felony assault;
- Second-degree assault;
- Identity fraud to avoid identification, apprehension, or prosecution for a crime;
- Motor vehilce/unlawful taking, obstructing, and hindering;
- Failure to obey a reasonable/lawful order;
- Theft of $1,5000 to under $25,000;
- Unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle.
No information about his next court date was released by the sheriff's office.
